PinWhiz Terms of Use
Effective date: June 7, 2026
PinWhiz is an iOS Pinboard client provided by Method Six LLC ("Method Six," "we," "us"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the PinWhiz app, the PinWhiz share extension, the optional PinWhiz Pro subscription, and optional in-app tips. By downloading, installing, or using PinWhiz, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms supplement, and do not replace, the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and the standard end user license agreement that Apple applies to App Store apps. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, the Apple terms control for that conflict.
About PinWhiz
PinWhiz lets you browse, search, and manage a Pinboard bookmark library, save new bookmarks from any app through the iOS share sheet, and generate suggested titles, descriptions, and tags using on-device or optional cloud AI providers.
PinWhiz is a client app. Method Six does not operate an account system for your bookmark library and does not run a server that stores your bookmarks. Your bookmarks are stored on your device and synchronize with the Pinboard service through your Pinboard credentials.
Your Pinboard Account
PinWhiz requires a Pinboard account at pinboard.in to read and save bookmarks. You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining your own Pinboard account, for following Pinboard's terms of service, and for any fees Pinboard charges.
PinWhiz cannot function as a Pinboard client without sending bookmark, tag, and authentication data to Pinboard. By using PinWhiz with your Pinboard credentials, you authorize PinWhiz to send that information to Pinboard on your behalf so the app can read your bookmarks, add, update, and delete bookmarks, and use Pinboard's feed features.
Pinboard is operated by a third party, not by Method Six. Method Six does not control Pinboard's pricing, availability, account policies, or content moderation, and Method Six is not responsible for Pinboard's service. Method Six is also not responsible for the content stored on or made available through Pinboard, including bookmarks, descriptions, tags, and feeds saved by you or by other Pinboard users. If Pinboard becomes unavailable to you, PinWhiz's Pinboard-dependent features will be unavailable.
Optional AI Providers (Bring Your Own Key)
PinWhiz can generate suggested bookmark titles, descriptions, and tags. The default option uses Apple's on-device models, requires no API key, and is included in the free tier.
PinWhiz Pro adds the option to use cloud AI providers, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, and OpenRouter. To use a cloud provider, you must supply your own API key for that provider. PinWhiz stores the key in the iOS Keychain on your device. Method Six does not provide cloud AI credits, does not operate or resell those services, and does not receive the content of your AI requests.
When you select a cloud AI provider in PinWhiz, you authorize PinWhiz to send the page address, page title, page content, and prompt instructions to that provider using the API key you have configured. PinWhiz will not send that data to any provider you have not selected.
Cloud AI providers are independent services with their own terms of service, acceptable use policies, pricing, and privacy practices. You are responsible for any fees the provider charges, for following the provider's terms, and for the content you send to the provider. If a provider changes its terms, pricing, models, or availability, PinWhiz's integration with that provider may change or stop working.
Free Features
The PinWhiz free tier remains usable indefinitely without a subscription and includes:
- a full Pinboard bookmark library with offline sync;
- full-text search across bookmark titles, descriptions, tags, and URLs;
- tag filtering and bookmark filters such as all, unread, and private;
- the Network feed and the Popular feed;
- swipe actions for delete and read/unread changes;
- the iOS share extension for saving from any app;
- AI-generated title, description, and tag suggestions using Apple's on-device models;
- tag autocomplete based on your existing Pinboard vocabulary;
- in-app bookmark creation with AI analysis;
- edit, delete, and optimistic sync of your bookmarks.
PinWhiz Pro
PinWhiz Pro is an optional annual subscription (product identifier com.methodsix.pinwhiz.pro.annual) sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. PinWhiz Pro currently costs $7.99 per year in the United States storefront. Prices in other storefronts and currencies are set by Apple and may differ.
A PinWhiz Pro subscription unlocks these features in the app:
- BYOK cloud AI providers — connect Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter using your own API key;
- advanced search scopes — narrow bookmark search to titles, URLs, or tags;
- bulk edit — select multiple bookmarks for batch operations;
- data export — create portable backups of local bookmarks and PinWhiz metadata.
Pro features may change over time as the app evolves. Method Six aims to keep PinWhiz Pro at least as valuable as it is at the time you subscribe, and will give reasonable notice if a Pro feature is removed or substantially changed.
PinWhiz Pro entitlement is determined exclusively from your Apple App Store subscription state. PinWhiz does not maintain its own off-Apple Pro entitlement, and there is no mechanism to grant Pro access outside of Apple's in-app purchase system.
Free Trial
When you are eligible, PinWhiz Pro is offered with a 7-day introductory free trial as part of the Apple subscription. The trial is an Apple App Store introductory offer for eligible new subscribers, configured in App Store Connect and granted by Apple — not by Method Six.
Eligibility for the introductory offer is determined by Apple based on your Apple Account, your prior subscriptions in the PinWhiz Pro subscription group, and any other rules Apple applies to introductory offers. If you are not eligible, the offer will not appear during the purchase flow.
Unless you cancel before the end of the trial, your subscription automatically converts to a paid annual subscription at the then-current price.
Renewal And Cancellation
PinWhiz Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase and, unless you cancel, again at the start of each new annual period. Apple typically attempts the renewal charge within 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal price is the then-current price for PinWhiz Pro in your storefront. Apple will notify you in advance of any material price increase, and the increase will not take effect unless you affirmatively agree as required by Apple.
Cancellation and subscription management are handled by Apple. You can manage or cancel your PinWhiz Pro subscription at any time in iOS Settings under your Apple Account's Subscriptions section, in the App Store app, or by following Apple's instructions at https://support.apple.com/HT202039. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues through the end of the period you have already paid for.
Method Six does not process refunds for App Store subscriptions or tips. Refund requests for PinWhiz Pro and for tips are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
Restore Purchases
PinWhiz includes a Restore Purchases action in Settings when Pro access is not active. Restore Purchases asks Apple to refresh your current subscription entitlements on the device and reactivates an active PinWhiz Pro subscription that was purchased through the same Apple Account.
Restore Purchases does not create or grant new entitlements and does not bypass Apple's in-app purchase system. If no active PinWhiz Pro subscription is found for the signed-in Apple Account, Restore Purchases will report that no active subscription is available, and you will need to subscribe to use Pro features.
Tips
PinWhiz offers optional, voluntary tips as consumable in-app purchases. Tips are one-time purchases that do not grant a subscription, do not unlock PinWhiz Pro features, and do not establish any ongoing service obligation. Tips are processed by Apple. Refund requests for tips are handled by Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use PinWhiz to:
- violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right;
- infringe intellectual property, publicity, or privacy rights;
- save, generate, or attempt to generate content that is unlawful, harassing, threatening, sexually exploitative of minors, or otherwise harmful;
- bypass or attempt to bypass PinWhiz Pro entitlement checks, Apple's in-app purchase system, or other access controls;
- attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from PinWhiz, except where applicable law allows this and the standard end user license agreement permits it;
- use PinWhiz to send abusive volumes of traffic to Pinboard, to a cloud AI provider, to a website, or to any other service;
- impersonate Method Six, Apple, Pinboard, or any AI provider, or misrepresent your affiliation with them.
You are also responsible for following the terms of each third-party service PinWhiz connects to on your behalf, including Pinboard and any cloud AI provider you choose.
Your Content And Bookmarks
You retain all rights you have in the bookmarks, tags, notes, prompts, and other content you create or save through PinWhiz. Method Six does not claim ownership of that content.
You are responsible for the content you save, generate, or send through PinWhiz, including content sent to Pinboard, to a cloud AI provider, or to any website PinWhiz contacts to read a page on your behalf. You represent that you have the right to save and process that content for those purposes.
AI providers may produce suggested titles, descriptions, and tags that are inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Review AI-generated metadata before saving anything you rely on.
Third-Party Services
PinWhiz interoperates with Pinboard, with cloud AI providers you choose, with Apple and Apple's payment and subscription systems, with websites whose addresses you choose to save or analyze, and with the diagnostics, caching, and favicon services described in the Privacy Policy. Each of those services has its own terms and privacy policy, which govern your use of that service and how it processes information it receives. Method Six does not control those services and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, content, or practices.
Method Six is not responsible for the availability, performance, accuracy, billing, or content of Apple's App Store, StoreKit, payment, and subscription systems, of Pinboard, of any cloud AI provider you choose, or of any website PinWhiz contacts to read a page on your behalf.
Privacy
PinWhiz's handling of information is described in the PinWhiz Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using PinWhiz, you acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer Of Warranties
PinWhiz is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Method Six disclaims all implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Method Six does not warrant that PinWhiz will be uninterrupted, error free, secure against all attacks, or compatible with all devices or future versions of iOS, and does not warrant that AI-generated suggestions will be accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any particular purpose. PinWhiz is not a backup service for your bookmark library; Pinboard remains the system of record for the data Pinboard stores.
AI-generated titles, descriptions, and tags are suggestions only and are not professional, legal, medical, financial, or other advice. You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI output before saving it, sharing it, or otherwise relying on it.
Limitation Of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Method Six will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, in connection with PinWhiz, even if Method Six has been advised of the possibility of those damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Method Six's total liability for any claim arising out of or related to PinWhiz or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Method Six through the App Store for PinWhiz Pro and tips in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) $20.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
Termination
You may stop using PinWhiz at any time by uninstalling the app. Cancelling a PinWhiz Pro subscription does not by itself uninstall the app or remove your local data; manage subscriptions through Apple as described above.
Method Six may suspend or stop providing PinWhiz, including PinWhiz Pro features and integrations with third-party services, if a third-party service becomes unavailable, if continuing would expose Method Six to material legal risk, or if Method Six decides to discontinue the app. Method Six will give reasonable notice when feasible. The disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, and acceptable-use provisions survive termination.
Apple's Role
You and Method Six acknowledge that these Terms are entered into between you and Method Six only, and not with Apple. Method Six, not Apple, is solely responsible for PinWhiz and its content. For purposes of these Terms, "PinWhiz and its content" means the PinWhiz application itself and the content Method Six includes in the application; it does not include Apple's App Store, StoreKit, or payment services, or content stored on or made available through Pinboard or any other third-party service PinWhiz connects to.
The license granted to you for PinWhiz is a non-transferable license to use PinWhiz on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, subject to the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including Family Sharing where applicable.
Method Six, not Apple, is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for PinWhiz. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to PinWhiz. If PinWhiz fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for PinWhiz, if any, to you; to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to PinWhiz.
Method Six, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or any third party relating to PinWhiz, including product liability claims, claims that PinWhiz fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. Method Six is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any third-party claim that PinWhiz or your possession and use of PinWhiz infringes that third party's intellectual property rights.
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes To These Terms
Method Six may update these Terms. When changes are made, Method Six will update the effective date above and publish the revised Terms at https://pinwhiz.app/terms. Material changes to subscription terms will be reflected in the App Store subscription metadata where Apple requires it. Continuing to use PinWhiz after the effective date of revised Terms means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Method Six LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction require otherwise. Nothing in this section restricts your rights under the consumer protection laws of your country or state of residence.
